Returning at Last

All I can really do at this point is apologize for my extended leave of absence. After my eye infection finally cleared up, I had lost all of my passion for this project. Life got in the way. Time passed. I got a job, I started DMing various RPG campaigns. Which leads me to a slight restructuring of the mission statement. I will now also cover various RPG systems I've tried out, from the perspective of both a player and a GM. I should have ample material for reviews, since I've finally graduated college and acquired a PS4 Pro. Rest assured, my three readers (give or take). This blog will be back soon and I will actually fulfill my mission statement.

Extended Leave of Absence

Here's the long and the short of it, guys. After my eye infection, I sort of lost interest in actually working on this blog. It became a fleeting passion, never to be fulfilled. Until now. I'm going to come back to this blog as soon as I get back to college with reviews of the games that I love so much.
I'm also considering a retool of the mission statement, so to speak. I am a great lover of anime and western animation, so I may well end up reviewing some of my absolute favorites every now and then. Aside from allowing me to talk about a subject that I hold dear to me, it'll effectively extend the life of this little blog.
The first review I'll do for this little blog is over Spider-Man for the PlayStation 1 console. I hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am, readers!

Delays

Sorry for the delays on my latest blog post, guys! My eyes have been killing me lately and that sort of precludes writing for extended periods of time. As soon as I'm feeling better, I'll get that Spider-Man post out! Thanks for staying with me, guys!

Introduction

Welcome to Gaming the System, a blog for the nostalgic gamer in all of us! I'm your host, J, and I'm here to entertain and enlighten you!

The mission of this blog is simply to review every game I've ever played in roughly chronological order. The other day I was poring over my old video game collection and an idea popped into my head. "What if I got to write about the video games I love so much? That would be good practice for my degree and a chance to gush about my favorite games!" So, I vetted the idea with some trusted friends, found it satisfactory, and here we are.

Video games have always evoked strong feelings of nostalgia, immersion, and joy in me. I thought I would share just how I feel with the world, while simultaneously directing people towards new games. Gaming is a gift that should be shared, after all.

Being a lifelong Sony user, I will mostly be reviewing games from their PlayStation line of products. However, I will throw in the few miscellaneous other games I've played in my days, mostly by Nintendo. I've played a lot of games in my time, so I shouldn't be wanting for material.

This blog schedule has yet to be determined. The most likely times for updates at the moment are Friday and Saturday evenings. Make sure to follow if you enjoy this blog, and feedback in the comments is always appreciated. Constructive criticism only, please. Telling me that I suck doesn't help either of us.

With that introduction over, I look forward to entertaining you all. The inaugural entry of this blog will be over the PS1 classic Spider-Man! See you later!
